The Southern California Homebrewers Festival (SCHF) is a legendary event, powered entirely by volunteers. From setting up the festival grounds to handing out ice, selling raffle tickets, and keeping things running smoothly, volunteers like YOU make this event possible!
By dedicating just two hours of your time, you’ll receive:

First-time volunteers are VERY welcome! We encourage new faces to sign up and join our incredible festival crew. Returning volunteers will get priority for their preferred shifts, but we always have room for enthusiastic new helpers!

How to Volunteer
Volunteering is simple! Just follow these steps:
1️⃣ Become a CHA Member
The California Homebrewers Association (CHA) membership is required to attend SCHF as a volunteer or paid attendee. If you’re not already a member, join CHA here ($10 per year). You will need your CHA membership order number to complete the volunteer sign-up form.
2️⃣ Fill Out the Volunteer Form
Let us know when and how you’d like to help by completing the volunteer sign-up form.
3️⃣ Wait for Communications in March
The CHA board will review all submissions and reach out with updates.
4️⃣ Receive and Confirm Your Assignment in April
You’ll get your official shift details and instructions. Confirm your spot, and you’re set!
5️⃣ Attend and Have Fun!
Show up, check in at the volunteer check-in line, complete your shift, and enjoy the festival!
Volunteer Roles & Shifts
Shifts are available on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, with a variety of ways to contribute:
🍻 Festival Setup & Teardown (Friday & Sunday)
- Set up lights, chairs, tables, and trash bins
- Assist with general site organization
- Help tear down and clean up after the festival
❄️ Ice Distribution & Trash Pickup (Ongoing – Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- Distribute ice from the ice truck to club booths every 30 minutes
- Keep festival grounds clean by emptying trash bins and collecting litter
🎟️ Front Desk Check-In (Friday Evening & Saturday)
- Welcome attendees, check them in, and distribute glasses
- Help with wristbands and festival info
🛍️ Merch & Raffle Sales (Friday Evening & Saturday)
- Sell official SCHF merchandise at the merch booth
- Sell raffle tickets for the big afternoon “Boil Over” drawing
🚗 Parking Assistance (Friday Evening & Saturday)
- Help direct bus and car traffic in the parking lot
- Ensure smooth entry and exit for attendees
Shift Preferences & Availability
When you sign up, you’ll be able to select:
✅ Preferred Shift Time: Friday, Saturday, or Sunday (morning, afternoon, or evening)
✅ Preferred Volunteer Role: Choose from Setup/Teardown, Ice/Trash, Check-In, Merch/Raffle, or Parking
✅ Second Choice: We’ll do our best to match you with your preferred shift, but assignments depend on volunteer needs and availability.
Returning volunteers will receive priority in shift selection, but first-time volunteers are always welcome!
